Erosion & Sediment Control

The following is a listing of Sediment Control Devices that are available to help meet the requirements of your site SWPPP plan. These items provide perimeter sediment control and address additional specific site needs.

Erosion Control Blankets

Erosion control blankets are available in single or double net configurations. Single net blankets are used on slopes less than 2:1 or channel flows of less than 5.5 feet per second, while the double net product is used for slopes up to 1:1 and channel flow velocity of 7 feet per second. Other configurations for more severe applications are available. All blankets are available with either photodegradable netting or 100% biodegradable netting. Reed & Graham also stocks blankets that meets or exceeds Caltrans Section 21-1.02O(4) Erosion Control Blankets Type A, B & C specifications.

Erosion Control Netting

Manufactured from pure coir, the husk of a coconut. This product is then woven into blankets with specific weight, strength and open area. Coir blankets are designed to last several years on construction sites making them one of the best products to use in bioengineering applications. R&G Geocoir Blankets meet Caltrans Section 21-1.02O(3) Netting specifications Type A, B & C depending on weight of fabric. See link for full and Caltrans specifications.

Turf Reinforcement Mats

Industry standard synthetic turf reinforcement blankets which are installed on top of the ground after slope or channel preparation and seeding for an immediate natural look. Stitched bonded top and bottom netting with synthetic fiber filling. R&G also carries TRM's that meets or exceeds the Caltrans Section 21-1.02O(5) Turf Reinforcement Mat Type A, B & C specifications.

Tubular Sediment Control

Fiber Rolls and Coir Logs, when properly installed, reduce the rate of water flow, by absorbing water and filtering sediment. On steep slopes, wattles used in conjunction with a properly designed and installed erosion blanket results in an extremely effective BMP. Coir logs are widely used on stream bank, sea shores, and lake shores to control the sand slide. It is also used in desert areas for controlling sand movement. Filtrexx SiltSoxx is a storm water runoff filtration device typically used for perimeter control of sediment and other soluble pollutants on and around construction activities.

Drainage Inlet Protection

Drain Inlet protection can be established above ground on top of the grate or below ground with a di inlet protection bag. They are used to prevent trash, silt and sediment from entering storm drain. They are designed to fit into the storm drain under the grate or on top of the grate and are available sizes are 2’x2’, 2’x3’ & 2’x4’, in 18” depth. Custom sizes are also available.

Miscellaneous Sediment Control

Floating Turbidity Barriers to contain sediment in water to Mud Mats for your jobsite entrances and soft soil areas. Gravel bags and Sand Bags both filled and empty along with dewatering bags to remove silt, sand, and other debris from pumped water.
